Practice

Using my experiences as a conflict photographer, my work examines what is seen, not seen and what the viewer chooses to see. While photo-based, my practice extends beyond the image plane to include large, unwieldy metal sculptures, multimedia art, social practice, and local archives.

Drawing on my training in journalism, this work blurs the boundaries between art, activism, and journalism, centering a research-driven critique of how images convey knowledge. At the core of my practice is the question of whether there is still a place for war photography that shows trauma, and whether we can adequately show injustice without creating injustice.
